What Is Collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, playing a vital role in maintaining the structure and integrity of our skin, joints, bones, and connective tissues. As we age, natural collagen production begins to decline, leading to visible signs of aging and decreased joint and skin health.

Types of Collagen

There are at least 28 types of collagen, but the most common are:

  • Type I – Found in skin, tendons, ligaments, bones; it's the most abundant and strongest.

  • Type II – Found in cartilage and important for joint health.

  • Type III – Found in skin, muscles, and blood vessels, often alongside Type I.

Hydrolyzed collagen, also known as collagen peptides, is collagen broken down into smaller amino acid chains, making it easier for your body to absorb.
